FLITELite GEN II

FLITELite GEN II Dual Sensor Pilot Light (Information for Tactical Operators/Motor Officer Versions). The New GEN II is 30% smaller, and more efficient than GEN One. The new version was developed to meet MIL-STD-3009, for Night Vision Imaging Systems (NVIS) aircrew auxiliary and utility lighting. This light is also perfect for the General Aviation Cockpit.

FLITELite comes complete with:

  • GEN II FLITELite unit, computer controlled, dual sensor pilot light available in:
    • Blue
    • White
    • Green
    • Red
    • NVIS White
  • Headset or Helmet Adapter (new adapters are free)
  • AAA Battery Pack
  • Optional Coin Cell Pack
  • Attachment accessories
  • AAA Batteries
  • Warranty

MIL-STD-3009 specifies NVIS 'White', a cool, full spectrum color that has a slight green tint to it, but still allows the aircrew to see all colors. Many military and civilian aircrew that fly with Bose, David Clark, or Lightspeed headsets will appreciate the custom fit of the FLITELite adapter system.

GEN II accommodates pilots with headsets with shorter booms with incorporation of an 11 degree light angle. Longer booms can easily put the light in the proper position, now shorter booms can as well.

FLITELite GEN II microprocessor receives information from two sensors, the rear sensor faces the mouth and the front sensor activated by the finger:

  • The rear sensor controls on and off functions, with a simple touch of the lip, the light turns on or off.
  • Battery life is protected by a computer controlled sixty minute auto-off.
  • The front sensor drives the brightness of the light. Touching the front sensor places the light to min bright to protect night vision, then slowly cycles to full bright.
  • The computer places this brightness setting into memory, and recalls the lighting level the next time the light is turned on.
  • Removing battery power clears the light memory.
  • The light is filtered through a special (and expensive) NVIS filter material on Night Vision Goggle compatible versions, and through a non-glare filter on Blue, Red, Green, and Soft-White versions.

Internal components are the highest quality, FLITELite is made in America. Design flexibility is achieved by using a flexible circuit board, constructed of DuPont Pyralux material, the same material used in the Mars Lander. The latest in sensor technology is controlled by proprietary software. All of the components are sealed by a special dielectric epoxy to protect your investment.

FLITELite is perfect for normal and emergency use. During normal operations FLITELite is great for reading charts and approach plates. FLITELite fills in dark spots, improves gauge visibility, and brightens up areas without light such as fuel selectors, etc...During emergency operations, FLITELite makes the electrical failure much less of an event. FLITELite has already logged several saves after electrical failures.

FLITELite GEN II has a number of great improvements. One of them is that the angle on the light was changed from 0 degrees relative to the face of the light to 11.5 degrees. When the pilot adjust the light to point directly ahead, some flexible and wire microphone booms were too short for some pilots heads. We tested, and found that by offsetting the light eleven degrees, we were able to put the light in the proper position for pilots with even the largest craniums.

FLITELite TACTICAL Operations Versions:
FLITELite is now available in a tactical version. This version is in the field testing stage and is available to Law Enforcement Motor Officers, and Military Ground Forces. We would like units/officers that would participate as part of the product development feedback loop to help us make changes to the programming.

This versions is programmed to require that both sensors are touched to activate the light, and the light activates to a fixed brightness setting with a 10 minute auto off. We have determined (with the help of operators) that the unit requires hands free operation, but not hands free activation. In the heat of battle, or when confronted with a high risk traffic stop, the officer/soldier would not want to inadvertently mark the face with light. When moving to cover, the microphone could be placed against the mouth pressing the sensor, or activating a switch (on the competitions light). To preclude this, we have a harnessed the technology of the dual sensor FLITELite - both sensors require activation creating a failsafe, before the light will come on.

This requirement to touch the front and rear sensor should preclude activation in most situations. Like any other piece of gear - it is incumbent for the operators to train with the light for optimum usage. This light is available to units with a specified brightness level, set at the factory. LE Lights for motor officers are set to max brightness and recommended to come in white or red. Special Operations versions are recommended in NVIS White and set to a medium intensity.
